So You’re Thinking of Starting a Blog?

Starting a blog is such a fun, creative project that can eventually make you money.

Wait:

You mean writing about the things I am passionate about can earn me money?! ….Yes!

If you have been throwing around the idea of starting a blog and thinking about ideas to write about, researching what to do and how to do it….

Here is the most crucial advice you need to know BEFORE you start a blog:

JUST DO IT

Just do it…just launch your blog already!

Nike didn’t adopt that motto for anything – they adopted it because it is so true in many aspects of life – blogging being one of them.

You don’t know how many times I have come across people talking about how they have been researching every single aspect of blogging for months before they’ve even started one.

I literally decided on a Friday that I wanted to start blogging and I had my blog up and running by Monday. Why? Because I know I learn best by doing – with trial and error.

That is blogging! You have to learn by doing so just do it!

DO NOT spend months and months researching and getting things ready to launch your blog….JUST LAUNCH IT!

Sorry to tell you but NO ONE is going to read it in the beginning anyhow – literally no one (except maybe your mom). But until you start marketing it, you will have a whooping audience of 0.

Even after a few months, your audience will most likely still be small. It’s not until month 3, 6, or maybe even month 12 that you will really start to see a large audience.

So JUST DO IT – launch your blog and start creating good content!

Ready for the second piece of advice or are you thinking….

“Good content? But I’m nervous for people to read my writing.”

I get it – it is nerve-wracking! But think of it this way – your blog will be solving a problem for your audience. Think of those people whose problems you are solving when you’re writing. They are going to be so happy to come across your helpful content!

That means:

You need to create an avatar for your blog!

An avatar is the person you are writing for – the person you are trying to attract to your blog because you know you can solve their problem.

Take out a sheet of paper if you’re old school or open up a google doc and jot down notes about your avatar.

Include your avatar’s name, their job, what their problems are, what they struggle with, etc.

This is your person that you are writing for! They have a problem and you are writing about a solution that will help them. So don’t hold out on them any longer…

When you’re typing away on a blog post – maybe even pretend you are writing them a detailed email. Whatever you have to do to produce good problem-solving content.
