What I’m Into October 2018

I do these post monthly and I would love for you to comment back what you’re into, based on the different categories. I am always loving suggestions!

Reading

On Writing Well by William Zinsser – I always read other bloggers recommending this book. I appreciated the tips! Zinsser has some really good advice on methods and principles to use when writing non-fiction.

Everybody Writes by Ann Handley – This was SUCH a good book! The tagline is “Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content” and it is! I read this book in less than 3 days and it’s a pretty good size book. I couldn’t put it down but probably because Handley is such a good writer!

Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo – This is the second time I have read this book. I have a special place in my heart for young adult literature. I read it aloud to my kids and it’s SUCH a good book! I cried the first time I read it years ago anddddddd cried when I just read it aloud to my kids last month.

Watching

Ozark – This is a Netflix Original TV show and it’s so good! Jason Bates is a great actor in this series and it reminds me a lot of Narcos. The suspense is intense!!! <Whoa, rhyme time! Anyhow, watch this show – you’ll thank me!

Making A Murderer – Season 2 was just released this month! My husband and I binged watched this within a few days. Steven Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner is the main cheese in this season and I.LOVE.HER! She’s a bada$$ B.

Celebrating

This month we celebrated Halloween like so many others. My kids have been talking about Halloween since it was over last year; it’s their favorite holiday. We spent an hour or so trick-or-treating then came back home and passed out the candy we just collected. Ironically, I think my kids had more fun passing it out to others.

This year we had a unicorn and a vampire running around the neighborhood.

Listening

I’ve been into Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations Podcast lately. Probably one of my all-time favorite podcasts. It sounds silly to say but almost every episode I have listened to has been incredibly inspiring in some way – she knows what she is doing. Her podcast also inspired me to write the following blog post.

Also because I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom – I have been listening to Lil Wayne’s new album that just came out Carter V.

Visiting

We went to Yellowstone earlier this month and it’s difficult to put into words how much the Yellowstone area means to me. Other people spend time planning their vacations and I’m just trying to plan how I can get back to Yellowstone.

Our kids had such a blast. We purposely went in the offseason because I hate crowds. We had beautiful fall weather but also got to experience snow in Yellowstone (which my kids said was their favorite part).

If you are planning a trip, I wrote a post about the advice I have when exploring the area. Check it out here.

We also took a weekend beach trip to Galveston. It was a fun adventure. I will be doing a more in-depth post about the area in a week or so.

Mommying

I discovered an awesome Youtube channel this month called Cosmic Kids Yoga. My kids LOVE IT! Cosmic Kids Yoga teaches yoga sessions designed for 3+ year old kids. My little ones take turns picking out which yoga video we are doing that day. My 3-year-old last about 5 min which I’m happy with but my 9-year-old finishes the entire video. Check them out – I bet your kids will love it!

A few of the products I bought this month that are worth sharing are:

This scope! We bought this before going to Yellowstone. It was the perfect purchase! It turned our phone into a monocular (I just learned that word). It was perfect for Yellowstone but I will also use when we go hiking to other places or go to concerts!

I also purchased this cute unicorn headband for our 9-year-old. She was a unicorn for Halloween and made her entire costume but I was worried the horn wouldn’t hold up if we handmade it. So I couldn’t pass up this cute headband for only a few dollars!

How is it November already? I’m sure you are thinking about Christmas gifts like so many others. If you are having trouble finding a little something something for the man in your life, I put together a small gift guide here. Hopefully, it makes the process easier for you!

Again, please comment with any recommendations for books, shows, products, etc. that you are loving.
